RS21 Sailing Cyprus is pleased to announce a new partnership with bbf:, whose support was central to the club’s first Cyprus Championship in the RS21 class, held on 19-20 September 2026.
bbf: is a leading developer of world-class residential and commercial properties, shaping communities across Cyprus and Greece. Founded in 2007 and headquartered in Limassol, bbf: delivers distinctive developments across city, coastal and mountain locations, with a fully integrated approach spanning land acquisition, design, development, construction and property services. Further information is available at bbf.com.
bbf:’s involvement in the championship went beyond sponsorship. The company provided new sails for the entire fleet and also entered its own crew, bbf: team, helmed by Vasiliy Osipov. Having only recently started training together, the team made its racing debut at the championship. With all boats competing with identical new sails, the results came down to the skill and performance of the crews rather than differences in equipment
The First Cyprus Championship in the RS21 Class
The event marked a milestone for local sailing: it was the first championship in Cyprus dedicated to the RS21 class. Five teams contested six races over two days, competing on equal terms in variable conditions.
Final Standings
Immigrant Punk led from start to finish, winning five of the six races to take the title with 5 net points. The team’s two New Zealand sailors showed a level of consistency that proved difficult to match in shifting winds.
VELA sailed a strong, steady series to finish second on 9 points. Rebel completed the podium on 17 points; despite a DNF in the opening race, the crew recovered well over the remaining races.
Acknowledgements
RS21 Sailing Cyprus would like to thank:
- bbf:, for supplying new sails to every team and entering its own crew in the championship;
- all five participating teams, for their sportsmanship and commitment on the water;
- everyone behind the scenes who helped to organise and run the event.
The club looks forward to a long-term collaboration with bbf: in support of fair, high-quality racing in Cyprus in the seasons ahead.
Congratulations to Immigrant Punk on their victory, and our sincere thanks to bbf: for its generous support.
